Kyushu island, known to have some of the most beautifu scenery in Japan is also home to Nabega-taki Waterfall. The waterfall is only 10 meters high, but spans about 20 meters, making a beautiful curtain. The cool thing about this waterfall is that you can go behind it as well. Also, during the golden week, the falls are lit up during the evening. You can access the falls by car or taxi, and it costs 300 yen.
Located in Nagano prefecture is Kaminari falls. Kaminari means thunder/lightning in Japanese. It`s located in the Matsukawa Gorge which is beautiful in the autumn. Through the gorge runs Matsukawa River. Be sure to check it out if you`re in the area.
In the mountains of Miyazaki Prefecture in Kyushu, is Takachiho Gorge where the beautiful Manai Falls is located. You can rent some rowboats and paddle up to the waterfall. It costs 2000 yen for 30 minutes. You can access the area from Nobeoka Station. You can drive a car or go their by bus.
Another beautiful waterfall in the Kyusuhu area. Jion falls is about 30 meters if you combine the top waterfall with the bottom. It`s located in such a beautiful area where there are many lush trees. A perfect spot to take a photograph. It is located near Sugikawachi Station, so you`ll be able to walk there from the station.
This waterfall is located in Gifu prefecture. It is a very large waterfall reaching about 60 meters. At the bottom of the waterfall there is a small space you can walk behind, so you can enjoy the waterfall from every which angle. It`s a very relaxing area where you can enjoy the nature.
A small water fall that spans over 70 meters wide is a beautiful place to visit in Karuizawa, Nagano prefecture. It is located in the forest which is north of downtown Karuizawa. There is no river that flows before the waterfall. It`s ground water that surfaces before it falls. The name "Shiraito" means white thread, so it`s easy to see where the name is derived. There are several waterfalls with the same name so be sure you`re going to the right one. You can access the area by bus from Karuizawa station. It costs about 700 yen. You can get off at Shiraito No Taki bus stop.
Another confusing waterfall as there are a few waterfalls with the same name. This waterfall is located in Shimane prefecture. There are 2 waterfalls side by side. One falling from 40 meters, and the other falling from 30.
Located in the northern most part of Japan in Hokkaido, is the home to Sakura falls. It`s a place that`s a little difficult to find without some local help. From June to August, you can see some Sakura masu (cherry trout) swim up river. Check out this youtube video of the area.
