It can be a strange feeling being completely naked and taking a dip in the hot springs with many strangers. But once you get past the being naked part, it`s a great place to be. For one, the hot springs in Japan are so aesthetically pleasing. Just being in such a beautiful place helps you relax. So I know some of you are still skeptical about going but as they say... when in Japan, do as the Japanese do. You won`t regret it. There are hot springs everywhere in Japan, but we will introuce you to some key hot springs locations scattered around Japan.
Kinosaki (Hyogo)- Google Maps - Kinosaki is a wonderful hot springs town in northern Hyogo prefecture, near the Sea of Japan. It`s traditional scenery resembles Japan in the olden days, and is a wonderful spot to travel throughout the countryside to relax.
Arima (Hyogo)- Google Maps - A hot springs resort town 40 minutes from Kobe city. This is a popular tourist attraction with many different hot springs and hotels to choose from.
Yufuin (Kyushu)- Google Maps -Kyushu is famous for its hot springs too. Be sure to check out Beppu hot springs too.
Kusatsu (Gunma)- Google Maps Gunma is not the most popular location to go to, but Kusatsu onsen is! Blessed with it`s great hot springs water, you can enjoy taking a dip in the hot springs after a day on the ski hill.
Dogo (Shikoku)- Google Maps - Another amazing hot springs. Possibly soon to become a national treasure (or should be if it doesn`t). Dogo hot springs was one of the inspirations for Ghibili`s Spirited Away.
