The imperial palace is home to the emperor of Japan. It`s located where the Edo castle used to be. There is a moat surrounding the main grounds and you can see a bridge called the nijubashi (double bridge). The main grounds are not open to the public. I`m sure you wouldn`t want people walking around your lawn all the time too. But if you are interested, it`s open to the public on January 2nd and December 23. It`s a short walk from Tokyo station, but if you`re lazy like I am, you can take a train to Nijubashi-Mae station.
