Kumamoto castle is one of the more beautiful castles in Japan. It`s one of the few black castles. There are many cherry blossoms in the area, so in late March/early May, the place is filled with people enjoying the cherry blossoms. Unfortuantely, due to the 2016 earthquakes, the castle was heavily damaged and is currently being reconstructed.
